Adaptive Skills Training Using DIR®/Floortime

The ABA Parent's Adaptive Skills Academy addresses the practical everyday skills a child needs in order to function at home and in the community. Our program targets 4 Adaptive Skills domains: Behavior, Play-leisure, Communication, and Social Skills. When selecting goals, the clinical team will identify the functional developmental capacities such as shared attention, intimate relating, referencing, affective reciprocity, and emotionally meaningful use of actions and ideas as the building block for logical and abstract thinking, including higher levels of empathy and reflection. Sessions are provided in the home or clinic.

ABA Parents utilizes a relationship/developmental modality when targeting adaptive skill domains. The modality used is Developmental, Individual Differences, and Relationship-based (DIR®/Floortime). DIR®/Floortime model was developed by Dr.Stanley Greenspan and Dr.Serena Weider. It centers the child’s unique interests, strength, and challenges and uses the power of relationships and personal connections to aid healthy social and emotional development.

For more information on DIR/Floortime® Please refer to the Interdisciplinary Council on Development and learning (ICDL) or Profectum.

Early intervention (Ages 3-6)

ABA Parents has developed a Social Skills group for young children between 3 and 6 years old with mild developmental deficits who can function in a group with 5 to 10 other peers. Parent-implemented interventions (PII) consist of practitioners collaborating with, coaching parents in implementing evidence-based practices with their children through daily social skills opportunities in the home and community.
